Project Showcase: Courtroom Drama

What was once an old courthouse just outside Guildford has been lovingly rejuvenated into a warm and welcoming family home. Thanks to the owner’s carefully selected interior and exterior stone that complements the interior design beautifully, the result is truly breathtaking.

The kitchen for instance, is cool and collected with dark painted cabinetry contrasted with crisp white worksurfaces. For the flooring, the owner worked with our Senior Project Consultant Gordon Fleck to choose our Kimmeridge limestone in a tumbled and etched finish. The result is a lightly textured surface that features varying tones of natural stone, which looks stunning in such a vast open space and manages to blend both classic and contemporary styling perfectly. The architecture of the previous courthouse design is shown off magnificently thanks to the triple-height ceiling and simple white painted décor, enhancing the light and airy feel. The same limestone also leads up the steps to the utility area, creating a seamless connection between the spaces, even though they are on different levels.

Royal Mink Staircase with Alpine Group

For the main hallway, our Royal Mink in a vintage finish creates a statement entrance to the property. The large format slabs enhance the spaciousness of the area with the richness of the dark stone contrasting wonderfully with the white painted walls and ceiling, mirroring the décor of the kitchen and utility room. The flooring is a special order design in 60cm x random slabs while the stair treads are bespoke and demonstrate the experience and expertise that we can offer clients here at Artisans of Devizes.
