Project Showcase: Floor Filler

Project Showcase: Floor Filler

The Project

Designers NW3 Interiors wanted to create a cosy yet cool home for their client and their family, who wanted to achieve a timeless aesthetic that was in keeping with the period style of the home and original architecture. The main focus was on the larger and more communal spaces which had to work in harmony together and amplify a feeling of space and light. Although the client preferred a clean, pared back aesthetic it was important to inject character into the spaces, including selected vintage pieces.

“Initially we wanted to keep the original patterned tiled flooring but unfortunately they couldn’t be salvaged.” explains designer Molly Fern. “The client wanted a blank canvas to build upon so we chose a neutral colour palette for the walls and woodwork and injected pattern and print throughout. The tiles were a nod to the impactful original tiled entrance, but worked tonally with the new scheme and complimented the salvaged stained glass windows.”

Izmir marble mosaics were chosen for the floors to create interest and impact upon entrance to the home. The paint colour palette has been kept muted and tonal so it was important to add character and wow-factor when you opened the front door. As it is a relatively small space the smaller tile does not get lost and adds texture as well as pattern.

“I love working with Artisans as their range of tile options are so extensive, including the natural stone options which are my favourite to specify as I think they add an aesthetic longevity to the design” says Molly. “The communication is always very good and allows for a seamless experience from specification to install.”
