Tailoring Bespoke Stone and Tile Solutions for High-End Projects
An exquisite bespoke stone or tile design is undoubtedly the ultimate in luxury. As well as sourcing some of the most beautiful stones in the world, Artisans of Devizes is renowned for its expertise in sculpting stone. Our highly skilled designers and stonemasons are able to offer a wide range of specialist services for conjuring up a unique tailor-made creation that is guaranteed to elicit the wow factor.
The magic happens at our bespoke workshop in Wiltshire, which is dedicated to personal commissions. Here, traditional hands-on artisan skills are combined with the latest precision technology, including water jet-cutting and laser templating, resulting in a unique masterpiece crafted from stone that will stand the test of time. ‘The beauty of creating architectural details and bespoke pieces is that Artisans of Devizes has the combination of state-of the-art technology, such as CNC (computer numerical control), and skilled inhouse stone masons, and the two marry together to craft the ultimate in beautiful creations,’ explains Mark Sandall, Head of Bespoke and Installations at Artisans of Devizes. ‘The machine does 90 per cent of the work but our skilled stonemasons finish it off and carry out the processes that the machine can’t do, such as hand cropping and chiselling, which relies on the talents of our accomplished masons. We have a standard bespoke selection, but we’ve also got the ability to work with architects and interior designers to create something that’s totally different from the norm.’ Such is the precision involved in the made-to-measure process, we are able to design, make and install to the client’s exact requirements.
And because of our decades-long relationships with the world’s luxury stone quarries, we are able to source exceptional cuts of stone, including marble, limestone, granite and onyx, as well as rare varieties. Our deep understanding of how to get the very best out of each type of stone allows us to expertly tailor them to each project.

Stone can be used to create a variety of pieces that take centrestage, from a small edge moulding to a grand staircase carved out of stone that makes a statement in a hallway. Staircases are one of our fortes. Our designers will advise on the best stones to use, whether in a spiral, cantilevered or floating design, and recommend treads, rails and banisters to complement the aesthetic, before handcrafting it in our workshop to the client’s exact specification.
‘We are able to create unique designs that are made exactly how the client wishes. The client can come to us with an idea and we can build on that and guide them. The work is very specialised and is produced to the exact millimetre in height, length and width. Our machinery is programmed to create these precise profiles and then our skilled masons finish it off beautifully in the workshop. This level of detail really elevates a project,’ explains Mark.
Bathrooms are one of our specialities so it goes without saying that our knowledge enables us to create hero pieces from marble, granite and limestone that are second to none. We can source solid blocks of marble, granite and limestone to craft vanity tops, benches, basins, bath surrounds, floors, splashbacks, feature walls and decorative features. We are also able to create a solid look by using individual pieces as cladding, with smaller pieces of stone bonded together. One of our speciality bespoke products is our Plateau™ Showerbase, a sublime seamless shower tray that is handcrafted from a single slab of the client’s chosen stone. And, when it comes to detail, we pride ourselves on our mastery of it. We can create simple or fluted bath surrounds and bespoke sills, shelves and niches to co-ordinate with the other stone in the bathroom, providing the perfect finishing touches. Each piece can be fabricated with pencil, bullnose and ogee profiles, as well as a simple flat polish.
Stone is also the perfect material for a kitchen and, as well as creating statement bespoke kitchen worktops from marble and granite, our team is fully trained in the fabrication and installation of man-made quartz materials and sintered stones such as Dekton and Neolith.
And it’s not just interiors that we can elevate, but exterior spaces, pools and spas too. We are able to create made-to-measure copings and bespoke items such as drainage grills, decorative profiles, pool corners, benches and seats, and steps, treads and risers. The possibilities are endless…
