Meet Our Showroom Manager – Chris Elliott19 May 2021
Finally, the UK is slowly starting to return back to normal, albeit a new kind of normal¸ and with showrooms now able to welcome people back through their doors, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to catch up with the team helping you find the perfect stone and tiles for your project.
Our showrooms offer a vast collection of natural stone and statement tiles. At our showroom located at Chelsea Harbour Design Centre, our displays include plenty of layouts to inspire. Behind this beautiful setting is our showroom manager Chris Elliott, who is on hand to offer expert tips and advice. So, who is Chris? Find out more about him below:
Name & location: Chris Elliott, Chelsea Showroom
How long have you worked with Artisans of Devizes? I will have worked for Artisans of Devizes for two years in September, although I have been working in this industry for over ten years on the whole – mostly in tiles and stone.
What did you do before? I have previously worked as Sales/Showroom Manager in companies that provide tiles, stone, paint, carpets, wallpapers and wood floorings. So coming to Artisans of Devizes was ideal and a natural fit for my experience. Prior to the above I have also been a student and hold a degree in Product Design, in addition to an assortment of art and design qualifications.
What do you enjoy most about working with Artisans of Devizes? As a manager I get to do a little bit of everything which is fantastic – from making the showroom look great and beyond. The more I can do the better, but if I was pressed, the best bit of my role has got be being involved in so many projects and designs. The showroom is a great space for collaboration of ideas and no two projects are the same. I get to assist and see all of our clients’ ideas and inspiration, sourcing solutions to achieve the space they want-which is a very gratifying feeling to take home.
What are your top three favourite Artisans of Devizes products? My top three is difficult as we have a lot of great choices that speak to my ideal aesthetics, but if I had to pick;
Cipriani Limestone Distressed – A beautiful warm and light coloured stone, great veining and feature and looks amazing with other stones/materials. The distressed finish in particular gives it a new depth and an aged appeal.
Fjord Quartzite – Fantastic green shades and waves of darker colourings. You can create some spaces with a lot of energy, adding a luxurious and vibrant feel. Plus I am a little biased as I named it!
Oasis Ceramic – The variation in the colour samples, rustic glaze and size are all very appealing. It’s my answer to most splashback queries following this style!
Have you used any of our products at home? Not yet, but I’m absolutely longing to use something and there’s bathroom renovations planned in the next year, so watch this space.
What’s been your favourite project you’ve worked on? That would be the entirely bespoke ensuite in Wimbledon using Folio Marble; I spent a lot of time with the designer and architect working on the best product choices, then doing what we could to make it a one of kind, stunning space. The entire space was a combination of tile, slab work, shower tray and mosaics. The many different formats added the detail to the space. The team were a joy to work with and the results have been spectacular.
What’s your top piece of advice you give to a client who visits our showroom? One of the biggest tips I can offer when navigating the vast choices would be to not just start with what you like the look of, but to also understand what you don’t like about various bits too. This is crucial for helping narrow down that field and make sure we are exploring the most appropriate solutions. Once we hone in on the best choices and looks, we can then iron out everything else around it.
What do you like to do when you’re not working? I am a family man at heart, with my time mostly spent enjoying little trips and outings with my wife and daughter. Outside of this there is always home improvements to make, but I also enjoy cooking (nothing healthy which could be why), drawing and settling down to whatever takes my attention on the TV.
Both our Devizes and Chelsea showrooms are now open by appointment, or book a virtual consultation to have from the comfort of your own home. Learn more about and book your appointment.
