Pantone Colour Of The Year 2021

11 December 2020

Chris Elliot, Showroom Manager at Artisans of Devizes

The eagerly anticipated Pantone Colour Of The Year 2021 has been announced this week, and after a tough 2020 the two chosen colours that have been deemed to ‘represent hope and resilience’ sound like the perfect choice.

PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating and PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray, the Pantone Color Institute says send ‘a message of happiness supported by fortitude’, coming together to support one another and encapsulating deeper feelings of thoughtfulness and well-being.

Taking inspiration from Illuminating and Ultimate Gray, Chris Elliott our Showroom Manager at Artisans of Devizes gives his take on the what we’re sure are set to be the trend setting colours of the year to come.

Illuminating Yellows

“With yellow being known for it’s high energy, it’s not surprising that it is associated with happiness and positivity. I think yellow is a colour we should all consider in our homes and works particularly well in hallways and breakfast rooms.

“Our sunshine yellow mood board jumps off the page and is bursting with cheer. Creating instant impact is our hexagonal Neapolitan striped porcelain tile in Yellow, which looks stunning beside the Lily Pad porcelain in Custard. Lily Pad has swiftly become one of Instagram’s hot interior trends and its distinctive starburst design comes in a stunning selection of colours.

“Our Dolly ceramic in Giallo adds a modern take on a traditional brick tile with its gloss finish and bevelled edge while Inker provides the tones found in Pantone’s Ultimate Gray. For this visual we’ve also added classic designs such as the Aliseo marble, the irresistibly tactile Adam encaustic in Sulphur and the Clay Atelier Relief tile with it’s unique textured surface – perfect for contemporary interiors.”

The Ultimate Greys

“A deeply versatile shade, grey has long replaced the clinical feeling that pure white can bring, and is now fondly known as the ultimate neutral – sitting perfectly between black and white. I’ve seen it continually favoured in homes no matter the season and with the latest news from Pantone, there’s certainly no signs of grey going away in 2021.

“New for this year and combining the terrazzo trend with our love for hexagon designs, the Pisa Grey Porcelain tile is a supremely stylish wall and floor covering guaranteed to add instant impact. With a cool grey base, the large hexagon tiles are flecked beautifully with shades of greys, blacks, and whites too to create the perfect focal point of any room.”

“Drifting their way graciously into bathroom and kitchen interiors, our Atlantis scallop porcelain mosaic tiles in grey will add drama and personality to any design scheme. The mosaic tiles are inspired by the coast with a crackle glaze to add a beautiful iridescent finish to these fish scale shaped tiles.

“If you’re looking for something more traditional, our Oasis ceramic tiles in a lovely neutral grey help to add texture to interior walls. With its Moroccan Zellige feel and more conventional shape, Oasis boasts varying tones which help to create interest and will easily transform a room.”
