In line with the current love for modern farmhouse chic, this home has been lovingly designed by Bristol-based interior designer Katy Cronk.
Homes that combine trends with enduring style will always be timeless. For the owners of this charming 17th century farmhouse in south Wiltshire, the brief for interior designer Katy Cronk was to create a practical and stylish family home using colour at the heart of the scheme. “The clients didn’t want the house to feel stuffy and old,” says Katy, “but were keen to inject a younger feel to the property whilst also respectfully considering the beauty of the architecture.”
The house as it stood felt rather dated and old fashioned and was in desperate need of some care and attention to bring it up to date. For Katy, the aim was to make each space look beautiful but also feel homely and cosy, too. The kitchen is bright and colourful with indigo cabinetry and a large double-fronted yellow dresser displaying the owners’ favourite ceramics and crockery. The flooring is practical and hardwearing, as Katy selected our Buscot Limestone in a honed finish, which is perfect for high traffic areas as well as homes with muddy pawprints thanks to the owners’ two delightful dogs.
The same Buscot Limestone was carried through to the utility room and downstairs cloakroom, creating a continuous flow through the different spaces. “I have worked with Artisans of Devizes for many years,” adds Katy, “and their quality and selection of products is the best. Buscot Limestone is particularly lovely, as it has a lovely warm feel to it with honey tones.”
Durable, easy to clean and care for, this stone flooring has a similar colour and markings to classic Cotswold stone, making it the perfect choice for this warm and welcoming Wiltshire home.
