Meet Our Showroom Manager: Alison Conti13 October 2021
Since our last Meet Our Showroom Manager feature, where we introduced you to Tim Pittock from our Devizes showroom, the UK has almost returned to “normal”, and we are delighted to be welcoming both appointments and walk-ins back through our doors.
With this, we are very excited to announce our latest showroom opening in Hampshire. Our new Hartley Wintney showroom is now open and full to the brim with natural stone and decorative delights to inspire your next project.
Behind our stunning new showroom is Alison Conti, Showroom Manager, who is on hand to offer expert tips and advice. So, who is Alison? Find out more about her below:
Name & location: Alison Conti, Hartley Wintney Showroom.
What did you do before working with Artisans of Devizes? After graduating from London University, I did an MA in Set and Costume Design, and my first job was with the BBC in their costume department. My claim to fame would have to be designing Rowen Atkinson’s famously tight Black Adder doublet and hose! Afterwards I spent a number of years working for a Fine Art Company, before setting up my own company that specialised in art for commercial businesses, including large sculptural pieces and murals. For two years previous to working with Sarsen Stone Group, I worked in tile and stone retail and became involved in bathroom design.
Could you tell us a little bit about your current role? As Showroom Manager, I see my role as that of providing the best possible experience for our clients, who contact us or visit our showroom in person. I take the time to get to know them and understand their project and what they would like to achieve. I really enjoy seeing the results of our many satisfied customers.
What can visitors to our new showroom expect? Visitors can expect a warm welcome and a genuine interest in their projects. You will also experience a beautiful and inspirational showroom, with the most comprehensive displays of Artisans stone and tiles.
What do you enjoy most about working with Artisans of Devizes? The range is amazing, I never struggle to find the right product or tile for my customers, and our Creative Director, Hamish is always on the look-out for the latest trends. When he can’t find what he’s looking for, he designs them! I particularly love our new paint range; the quality is amazing and as an interior designer the paint really helps to complement our tiles.
What are your top three favourite AoD products and why? There are so many, it is difficult to choose, but my dream kitchen would be a large open plan space, with Blandford Honed Limestone on the floor, an inset area of the Atlas Grey Porcelain tiles under the table (my signature ‘rug’ design), and splashback with Seaton Ceramic Crackle White Sands.
Do you have any Artisans products at home? My bathroom has the Chatham wood-effect tile in shade Ash on the floor, and Carter White on the walls. It is a small space so I wanted it to feel light and airy.
What’s been your favourite project you’ve worked on and why? I worked for six months with a client on her new build project which included six bathrooms and all the downstairs flooring. It was lovely to get to know her and her family and to help realise their forever home. I especially loved using the Havana tile in her Orangery. It’s a room you would never want to leave! In her entrance hall we used Albury Limestone in a Tumbled Finish fabricated in a circular pattern, a truly stunning feature.
What is your top piece of advice you give to a client who is interested in our stone and tiles? Get specialist advice, time invested in coming to the showroom will be time well spent.
What do you like to do when you are not working? My family, including my Italian husband, two goddaughters and my cat Luna keep me busy in my spare time and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
