House Style – July15 July 2021
Here at Artisans of Devizes we’re always seeking out new inspiration and with every month comes a refreshing take on seasonal colours, trends and products. With a renewed sense of optimism in the air, July holds the promise of great things to come. So, this month we bring you products and projects we love as well as ones to watch. We also throw the spotlight on the perfect tile for recreating that holiday vibe here at home. Have a fantastic summer, whatever project you’re working on or planning for the months ahead.
Our popular Wychwood Limestone now comes in a gorgeous velvet finish, perfect for classic as well as contemporary spaces. Use it in kitchens, boot rooms, utility areas and hallways and let the timeless appeal of this classic stone shine through. We love the 60cm x random format, which is oh so rustic and the fact that it is low maintenance makes it a winner for busy lifestyles. We think it looks fab teamed with our new Pottery porcelain brick wall tile in Natural Cotton, which can be used to give kitchens a utilitarian look, reminiscent of Victorian cook’s kitchens and sculleries.
Project of the month…
We can’t get enough of this spectacular kitchen and boot room project, which uses our Vieux Bourgogne Limestone to stunning effect. This large format tile with its warm, rustic tones, really anchors the design with its dark and pale blue cabinetry and natural wooden dining furniture. Creating a flagstone feel that complements a traditional interior, taking it through to the spacious boot room beyond shows how versatile and practical this stone is for country homes where muddy boots are a daily occurrence.
One to watch
This month we’re all about super-chic utility rooms. There’s something inherently calming about having a dedicated space for laundry appliances and cleaning products and we love the idea of open shelving with baskets to store wooden dustpan and brush, clothes pegs and eco-friendly detergents.
This design by Laura Passey Interiors is part of a Victorian property in Surrey, where inspiration was drawn from the mature gardens and surrounding countryside with painterly florals and birds playing across walls and fabrics. Artisans of Devizes’ Buscot Tumbled Limestone was used for the flooring, which is carried through from the adjoining kitchen to complement the home’s original features and architecture. We also adore this design by Jo Miller of The House Edit (@thehouse.edit). Again, Buscot Limestone was selected, as it adds to the country house feel and, as Jo says, “is quite simply beautiful.”
Trend focus – Mediterranean inspired tiles
This summer many of us will be staying at home but there’s no reason to miss out on that relaxing holiday vibe when you can recreate the Med look and feel with our Cuba tile collection. These new porcelain decorative designs are available in Como, Iberia, Infantas and Marla prints as well as a ceramic Alba design and field tiles in Pearl Grey, Mint Green and Indigo. The tiles have a handmade effect with an artisan feel and can be used to transform interior walls (ceramics) and walls and floors (porcelain) inside and out. Think suntrap courtyards, busy kitchens with tapas-style dishes on the go and bathrooms or shower spaces that cool you down on a hot summer’s day.
