Quintessentially British

9 October 2020

This quintessentially British home is the epitome of country living.

Set in acres of private grassland and forestry, with valley views you will be left yearning over, this red-bricked family home may look like it’s been in situ for a century despite being completely renovated in recent years.

This project saw Artisans of Devizes working side by side with the homeowners, appointed Ian Adam-Smith Architects, and Caroline Crane at Norton Crane design studio.

Whether a client comes to Artisans of Devizes with a clear image of what they are trying to achieve or if they are looking for full guidance, we would always recommend a trip to one of our showrooms. Such a visit allows the client to feel and see our products worn in, helping to create an idea of what ‘lived in’ stone really looks like. In the case of this project, the client visited our London Chelsea Showroom to help get the wheels turning for shortlisting the right floor and wall coverings for the job.

Gordon Fleck, Senior Stone Consultant at Artisans of Devizes commented, “Thanks to a wealth of great choices in our London showroom, located in the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre, we were able to support our client with stone selections for their renovation.

“The project was a grand one, with the entrance hall, kitchen, utility, walk-in larder, boot-room and pool changing room completed with a range of stone and tiles. The drawing room and lounge were finished with Generations Timber floors, and finally one of the most special dog wash areas I have ever seen now features our Carter Ceramic tiles.”

The clients chose an unrivalled combination of finishes throughout their home, with the aid of a host of samples and floor panels laid on site to facilitate the decision process – helping to successfully create rooms you would want to spend time in. Picture striding into your boot room fitted with resilient Hardwicke Limestone following autumnal dog walks. Late nights entertaining in the kitchen, surrounded by the cosy neutrals of Vellenoy Limestone. Early mornings spent in the larder, stepping into the rustic colours of warming terracotta, taking that extra time to pick eggs and pastries for breakfast.

Gordon finishes, “When a customer confesses that ‘they are 100% happy with their choices and are very proud of it all’ you know you’ve got it right. All our products were superbly installed by Wallace Baxter, a Sussex-based building firm, really highlighting and completing the great team effort behind this wonderful project.”
